The benefits of acupuncture for the physical body are quite well renowned. Not so much is known about the more emotional effects of acupuncture treatment and the effects that acupuncture can have on relieving many emotional states.
There can be many underlying conditions which contribute to our emotional well being and life circumstances weighs heavily on the balance - we lead very busy, hectic stressful lives these days and from time to time most of us find that we may need more help than is available to us. Life events such as death, the ending of relationships, exams, motherhood all can try us emotionally, acupuncture won't stop these natural processes but will help you through the process with as much grace and ease as is possible.
Acupuncture is also a very effective treatment for anxiety states and depression. So how does it work?
Again this comes down to the trained acupuncturist being able to diagnose correctly the symptoms you are experiencing into the correct patterns and then treating you accordingly.
Wonderful selections of points are available to release, soothe, build, uplift, calm, invigorate, stimulate and work with the emotions. For example, when someone is experiencing a particularly stressful time they may find that they become much more tense and irritable so we may choose points that soothe and calm. However if someone if feeling particularly down or increasingly tearful we may work on releasing emotions that are pent up and then building and uplifting their state of mind.
Treatment really all depends on the underlying patterns that are seen in the pulses and further backed up by subtle signs such as skin tone, voice, odour and predominant emotions.
